Wrexham Glyndŵr University Instructs Legat Owen To Market Wrexham Housing Site

We have been appointed by Wrexham Glyndŵr University to market a surplus site which has secured residential planning permission at the July planning committee.

Outline planning permission has been approved for the development of up to 410 apartments on a 7.38-acre site to the rear of the university’s Plas Coch campus fronting Plas Coch Retail Park.

Director Stephen Wade commented:

This is a significant instruction by Wrexham Glyndŵr University; Wrexham has a severe shortage of land with planning permission for residential development and we know that where development has taken place there is a pent-up demand for new housing. We are confident that this site will attract strong demand from both regional and national house builders.

Marketing is now underway, and offers are being invited in late September.

Stephen Wade, Director, Legat Owen

Lynda Powell, Director of Operations at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, continued:

This is an important milestone in our vision for our Campus 2025 development strategy. The site is surplus to our requirements and therefore securing planning permission and disposing of this land enables us to progress with greater speed at making a huge difference to our main campus and will also make a positive contribution via residential development to help meet Wrexham’s housing need and bring more people to the town, securing future growth and economic prosperity.

We’re a university of and for the community and Campus 2025 is the future landscape of Wrexham as well as our future and ambition. A positive economic impact is what Wrexham needs and Campus 2025 brings significant regeneration to Wrexham, not just to the university, helping to create a vibrant community.

We look forward to working with the team at Legat Owen, who have provided us with strategic advice throughout, to help deliver a successful outcome.
