Refurbishment and Redecoration of Historic Chester Building

Legat Owen Re-decoration of St Werburgh Street, Chester

Legat Owen are pleased to report completion of extensive refurbishment and redecoration works to the front elevation of Grade II listed property 6-12 St Werburgh Street, located in the heart of Chester City Centre.

Legat Owen building surveyor Jon Hardie project managed the works which were undertaken by local company Frontier Joinery.

Jon commented:

“It has been many years since this elevation had received any care and attention, it feels a real sense of achievement to bring this historic property back into the condition it deserves. The timber work on this building is extremely ornate and now looks fantastic. Thanks must also go to the tenants White Stuff and Ecco Shoes for their patience whilst the works were completed.”

Jon Hardie, Associate Director, Legat Owen

The building was designed by John Douglas, one of the leading architects of Victorian Chester.  Constructed around 1895-97, it is a fine example of the black and white revival which Chester is renowned for and includes a detailed carving of Queen Victoria.
