Statement from Legat Owen

We are very sad to announce the passing of Peter Johnston, who died peacefully at home on 18th January.

Peter, 70, was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2018 which unfortunately was followed by a second cancer of the prostate. Despite this, he remained fully committed to life and work – he was on the phone to his clients right to the end.

A Chartered Surveyor and company director, he started his career in London before moving back to his hometown of Liverpool where he joined Sykes Waterhouse Commercial. It was here that he met Nick, Peter and Sue with whom he would spend the majority of his career at Legat Owen in Chester, giving over 35 years of dedicated loyalty to the firm.

Peter possessed an enormous capacity for work, and was known for his straightforward but considered approach – always putting his client first whilst remembering the human touch in every deal.

His courteous manor, sage advice and fatherly nature marked him out as a statesman and a gentleman.

Along with his family and work, his other passion was Liverpool football club – and many clients, colleagues and friends will fondly recall the famous Chinese banquet enjoyed with him prior to a game!

Our love and thoughts go to Helen, Heather, Robert and James from all of the Legat Owen family.
